FAQ
About GreenBike
-
GreenBike is Utah's nonprofit bike share, connecting the community to jobs, housing, transit, and entertainment. Improving health, air quality, and transit use, it’s a partnership with Salt Lake City, Ogden, UTA, and others. (Download the BCycle App for station locations and bike availability or visit online maps for Salt Lake City and Ogden.)
-
Bike share offers public transportation through a fleet of sturdy, well-maintained bikes available at docking stations across the city. Ideal for short, one-way trips, riders can pick up a bike at one station and return it to another. (Check the app or online maps for station locations and availability.)
-
Bike-share programs are designed for short rides and allow flexibility to pick up and drop off bikes at different locations. With 24/7 access and unlimited rides during your pass limit, bike-share makes it easy to run errands or combine with other transportation without worrying about returning the bike to one spot.

Using the Bikes
-
Riders need to be at least 18 years old to use GreenBike.
-
To check out a bike, purchase a pass via the app. In the app, tap your station on the map, select “Unlock Bike,” and choose a dock with an available bike. Tap the dock number and press “Unlock Bike” to release it.
Passholders with a GreenBike keycard can tap the dock’s silver button, then hold the card to the reader to unlock the bike.
-
To end your ride, return the bike to any GreenBike station and push it into an open dock. The dock will beep and flash green to confirm your ride is complete. You’ll receive a text confirming the bike was returned (unless you’ve opted out of texts).
-
All pass options include at least one 60-minute ride, as long as you check in your bike before 60 minutes you can check a bike right out after. Any ride lasting longer than 60 minutes will be billed $5 per hour for the duration of the checkout. Explorer Pass allows for unlimited 60-minute rides in a 24-hour period, and Annual Passes allow for unlimited 60-minute rides for a period of 365 days.

No. Each pass type allows one bike at a time. To have multiple bikes checked out at once, you’ll need a separate pass for each.
-
To keep the system running smoothly and maintain affordable prices, extra fees for extended rides encourage bikes to be returned when not in use. There’s no minimum wait between rides—return the bike to a station and check it out again, just like renewing a library book!
-
GreenBike bicycles feature step-through frames, pedal-powered front and rear lights, baskets, three speeds, and adjustable seats. The recommended rider height is 5' and up, though people outside this range may find the bikes comfortable or slightly less so.
-
Open the lever where the seat post meets the frame, slide the seat up or down to your preferred position, and be sure to close the lever securely before starting your ride. Each GreenBike has a numbered seat post, which is the same across all bikes, so you can easily set it for optimal comfort every time.
-
The front and rear-facing lights are powered by the rotation of the wheels. Start pedaling and the lights will turn on automatically. They turn off shortly after you stop riding.
