Madeline Rupard - Madeline Rupard is an artist based in Utah Valley. She received her MFA from Pratt Institute and her BFA from Brigham Young University where she currently teaches as an Assistant Professor of Painting. Her work has been exhibited at SPRING/BREAK and Room57 Gallery in New York, New American Paintings, and in Salt Lake City this fall at Material Contemporary. This painting "Sun Shower" was inspired by a summer drive to Utah Lake after moving across the country back to the West. A sense of wonder and solitary, transient observation is instilled in her pictures--you are not here to stay, but always passing through. She paints the American landscape to describe contradictions: the suburban and the sublime, the sacred and the mundane, and the ancient and man-made running up against each other.
